Healthy Body, Healthy Mind with Aspire2GoodHealth

The 2gether Community Physiotherapy Team has partnered with Aspire Sports and Cultural Trust to develop a health and wellbeing hub for 2gether service users.

The project, called Aspire2goodHealth, officially opened its doors at GL1 leisure centre, in Gloucester, on July 18.

As well as providing opportunities for service users  to access Aspire’s facilities and services within GL1, the hub enables development of specific group work related to health and wellbeing.

Aspire has also kindly dedicated an area within the leisure centre for individual physiotherapy treatment sessions, clinics and joint working sessions with professionals from other services.

Speaking of the collaboration’s hopes and aspirations for the new initiative, community physiotherapist Nicola Dowdeswell,  said: “This is a fantastic new venture with Aspire.

“It’s about getting our service users feeling included – not just in this wonderful facility, but in the community as a whole.

“Giving them access to Aspire’s facilities, and their space, here within this fabulous Wellbeing Hub, offers them another step towards feeling fully inclusive on their road to recovery and wellbeing.”

Jacquie Douglas, Deputy Chief Executive at Aspire Sports and Cultural Trust, said: “As a local charity we are delighted to be able to partner with the 2gether Trust to trial this innovative way of working within the community.

“Our mission is to aspire to do more and we believe we must pool our respective skills, experiences and resources to help improve lives.

“We look forward to welcoming the 2gether Trust clients, staff and their families to our facilities to benefit from and enjoy the full range of services we have on offer.

“Please see our website at www.aspiretrust.org.uk if you would like to know more about us and what we ‘Aspire’ to achieve.”
